Icon Living

A return to the classics, the Penfield Icons collection brings back five iconic silhouettes, ushering in a new era of style and function for the great outdoors…

The dictionary defines an icon as 'a person or thing that epitomizes for many people a value, an era, a community, etc.' The Penfield Icons collection embodies all of these elements. It encapsulates the values of high quality, innovation, and functionality, as envisioned by the brand's founder, Harvey Gross. It represents the era of 1970s New England, with its diverse climate and landscape, as well as timeless, understated style. Furthermore, it resonates with a community of wandering spirits — inherently curious, connected, and constantly on the move, in search of new places and experiences in both natural and urban environments.

Five classic styles from the Penfield archives have been authentically restored and refreshed for a new generation, whilst retaining the distinctive qualities and aesthetics that made them so iconic in the first place. Rugged Americana returns with the Rockford jacket. Designed to deal with the changeable New England weather, a more conscious approach sees the use of a recycled Primaloft® fill, offering the same warmth and soft, plush feel as down, but with a more sustainable execution, as well as the signature western yoke in brushed cotton twill.

Offering a reassuringly sizeable shape, the Bowerbridge is a robust jacket with a deluxe heavyweight fill for supreme warmth and comfort, whilst boasting customisation for a more personal fit. Penfield’s take on the classic mountain parka, the Kasson has been upgraded with lightweight wadding making it suitable for the navigating cityscapes and more rural plains alike. The impactful blouson silhouette of the Archive Padded Bomber is accented by a lush detachable faux fur collar, as well as snug wool blend rib trims bringing together function and style in the time-honoured fashion of the brand. What’s more, all three of these pieces are constructed with Penfield’s 60/40 cotton nylon cloth, providing a tightly woven construction, combining with a durable water-repellent coasting for a wind and rain resistant offering.

The final element of the collection is the Winter Geo Mattawa, a midweight borg fleece, elevated by a large-scale jacquard geo print in hues of shaved chocolate brown and sandshell beige. Bold and dependable, the piece offers style and warmth in equal measure.

Iconic styles, rooted in the brand’s history; the Icons Collection is supported by sweats, tees, accessories and more carrying the same qualities Harvey Gross strived to achieve in Hudson, Massachusetts in 1975.
